Profilometry is a surface texture measuring system that accurately measures surface texture thickness up to 65 microns.

Radius of the standard stylus tip is 12,5 microns that meets most all requirements for the majority applications. Optional stylus tips are sub-micron, 5 microns and 25 microns stylus.

The horizontal resolution in DEKTAK 3 is determined by the scan length and scan speed. There are three speed ranges: Low, medium and high. Low speed provides high horizontal resolution with 2000 data points per scan. For higher speeds the scan time reduces. Following formula may be used to determine the number of data points for any given scan length and speed.
